Piranha - Chapter 1
The Piranha brand was conceived in May 2006 during a fact finding sourcing mission to China with 6 like-minded sports retailers. After much brain storming and numerous Tsingtao beers one evening, "Piranha" was born. The logo was designed on the plane on the way home, and on touching down at Heathrow, the excitement to launch the brand was overwhelming.
We had been exhibiting at the Rosslyn Park schoolboy sevens tournament for 10 years, as Hawkinsport, a rugby specialist selling all things rugby. If Piranha had any legs (so to speak) the discerning youth market would soon let you know. We printed a dozen hoodies and a dozen T shirts to test the water, and by lunchtime on the first day the hoodies had all been sold and the T shirts were going fast.
We were on to something......
As Hawkinsport, we have been supplying clubs and schools for over 40 years with all their rugby needs, and wanted a brand to fit into the Hawkinsport mould which was producing good quality technical kit at affordable prices, with a service which was second to none. Piranha is run by ex-rugby players who have a good understanding of what works and what doesn't. We source products from the Uk, China, India, and Eastern Europe and are always striving to improve products and of course prices.
We don't claim to be the cheapest around - you get what you pay for- and we believe that we produce products which are excellent value for money. We have produced a range of playing, training and leisure wear which is available solely at Hawkinsport.
Will we supply other retailers with Piranha product.......we will leave that for chapter 2.
